Declaration of Collaboration

Cervical Cancer – Prevention in Africa

Cervical cancer, caused by HPV, is one of the most preventable yet still one of the deadliest cancers for women in Africa. Almost all of the 20 countries with the highest burden worldwide are on the African continent. Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives, but limited access to prevention, screening and care contributes to 90% of related deaths.

Effective tools exist: HPV self-sampling, cost-efficient screening, early treatment, and vaccination. Together, we aim to raise awareness, build local capacity, and support prevention strategies.

Our Common Intention

We express our shared intention to collaborate in the field of cervical cancer prevention in Africa, starting with the goal to support pilot projects such as screening 1,000 women using HPV self-sampling. This declaration is non-binding and serves as a joint expression of goodwill to:

  • Promote awareness and education
  • Align with national health strategies
  • Strengthen training and local empowerment
  • Encourage scale-up and sustainable solutions

Implementation Partners (non-binding collaboration)

  • Gesundes Afrika e.V. (Healthy Africa)
  • Dubai Cares
  • AHK – German-Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce
